Newbies

K, so I know it has been awhile...but with broken/no computer and getting used to the new one, plus I am working full time till January it all has just consumed me I am afraid. I have been doing a few layouts though these past few weeks and here they are!

Sunday, November 22, 2009

Well, I am a little behind in posting...sorry. Actually, I was set to post a few layouts a few weeks ago and then my computer completely crashed...something to do with the harddrive? Anyway, we bought a new computer, a Mac...I am lovin' it but am finding it getting used to hard in a few areas...like I can't copy and paste and that is bugging me....lol

I have a few new layouts to show you but need to retake the pics of them as they were on my old computer and then figure out how to upload them on this new one...so bear with me it may be a few more days then I will have some to show you.

That's Amore August Workshop

I wanted to lett you all know about my second workshop that I will be hosting for August. This one is called That's Amore using the that's amore paper pack and accessories.

How they work: This unlike a splurge group or similar groups. Although I will be hosting them monthly as long as I have a continued demand for them(which I am expecting I will!), there is no commitment. You can choose to come to one, a few, or all of them! You decide. Each month I will post the next months workshop and deadline date for registering and you simply need to let me know by that date if you want to attend the next one so I can order your kit with the rest attending.

Your kits will consist of the paper pack associated with that months workshop along with most likely a coordinating my stickese assortment pack and the other embellishment required. These workshops are based on the reflections and the other books available, but you will get all cutting and assembling instructions. I will always supply the stamp set and inks that coordinate with that workshop for you to use that night so your pages are complete. You will be required to bring your own trimmers and adhesive.

Our paper packs have 12 double sided patterned paper and 10 coordinating cardstock sheets. At each workshop you will make that months double page layout and leave with lots of extra papers to make at least 4-5 more layouts and some cards! The cost each month is going to be approx. $35(that includes tax and shipping. Price will vary only by a few dollars depending on supplies needed but they all appear to be right around that price range. This month's workshop is using the That's Amore paper Packets and accessories. It is great for a girly page for your daughters, neices, etc. Or it would make great wedding pages as this paper is beautiful! So far, I have made 6 layouts and still have lots left to make at least one or two more layouts and some cards! You really get a lot of bang for your buck! Please see below the photo for the main 2 page layout we will be making. The other four I have done really don't do themselves justice without the photos so I will upload photos of them when I find some photos that will fit on them. Deadline for registration(including payment) would be August 3rd. Anyone is welcome to come so please invite all your scrappy friends. Please RSVP to c2mh@shaw.ca if you and/or your friends would like to attend.

Worshop Date: August 22nd
Time: 7:00 p.m.

I do still have a few extra kits from July's Animal Cookies Workshop if you are interested in purchasing them and doing on your own(remember full instructions supplied)

my bad..

I know I have been a bad blogger lately, sorry! I have been busy and actually haven't had time to scrap lately, plus we just got back from a mini vacay in Alberta while we had a wedding out there, so I really have nothing to share right now. But, I will leave you with a shower gift card that I made about a month ago or so and a wedding card I made last week.

A reminder also....anyone in the Saskatoon area interested, I still have 3 spots available in this weekends Close to my Heart Animal Cookies Workshop that I am holding. Please send me an email at C2MH@shaw.ca for more information or see post below, or to register. Can't come this weekend then sign up for the one on the 18th this month.

New!!: Close to My Heart Monthly Workshops!

I am going to be starting to host monthly workshops each month..depending on amount of attendees I may hold two dates a month to accomodate everyone wanting to attend. My upline recently went to a C2MH convention where they did the Back Country Workshop. She is excited about them and is having two this coming month! I had looked at them in my consultant site before and debated them, but now with all the buzz I have been hearing from everyone about them I thought no time like the present!!

So, when you come to the workshop, I will have ready for you all that you purchased and anything else you will need. You instruction guides will be there but if you have any questions or need help I will be glad to assist. You will be required to bring your own trimmers and adhesive. This month I chose the animal crackers workshop as it was the one I liked as soon as I saw it...it is so adorable! So far, I have made 6 layouts and still have lots left to make at least one or two more layouts and some cards! You really get a lot of bang for your buck! I was hoping to have a workshop this month but it is tight as I need to have enough time to ensure the kits get here in time so if I did host one it would be June 27th with the deadline for all registrations and payments to be in to me by June 12 at the latest! I have two dates for July. July 11th or July 18th. Deadline for both dates for registration would be June 27th and payment would need to be in by no later than the 30th of June. Anyone is welcome to come so please invite all your scrappy friends. Anyone not into scrapbooking but is interested this would be the perfect chance to test it out! Please reply on here if you can can't attend. If you would like to attend but the dates or time doesn't work for you, please let me know and we will see if we can work something out.

I have also created an event for this workshop on facebook and you can go here to rsvp if you would like. Basically the same information is on there but then I can have all attendees rsvp'd in one spot if possible.

Here are a few photos of the double page layout we will be creating at this first workshop. Isn't it just cute?!
For my friends: if you would so kindly post my workshop(shorter version even, if you like directing them here) on your blogs to help make more people aware of them it would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Last of the pages from last weekend.

Here are the last of the pages created at last weekends online crop I attended at JustCre8.com

This one was for a challenge where we had to do our journalling in snippets(single words describing the layout) I have had this cool watermelon stamp set from Close to My Heart for awhile now and have been waitting to use it. For the one, I tore a piece out of it to imitate a bite.
The challenge for this layout was to use chipboard on the page and keep it in the raw...no inking, no painting, no covering with paper nothing. I even tried to keep with the theme, titling it Raw Beauty..lol
This challenge was to use up all those little snips and scraps that are lying around on our working areas. You know...we all have em'...you take out something to use on a page and end up not using it and don't put it away or maybe you cut a piece of ribbon off and still have some small scraps laying around...etc. Mine was the ribbon which I had actually gotten off a margarita gift basket from BeautiControl. Knew I wanted to use it for a page sometime but hadn't put in in my ribbon storage yet...also those 4 photo anchors had been laying there for sometime. I was looking at all my misc. tidbits laying around and as soon as I saw them knew they would go with this page I was wanting to do. The layout is from the **Reflections book ** from Close to My Heart. Love this page and how it turned out.

**These books really are a life saver at times when you want to get some pages done and fast...great ideas and layout sketches in them and they give you step by step instructions. You will be 100% satisfiyed with them, guaranteed. I love them! Aside from adding your photos and own embellies to make the page your own you can easily have a double page layout done in 10 minutes!!**
This is one of my favorites..this one really comes from the heart. The challenge was to do some conversational journalling. I have been wanting to do a page like this for sometime now but always put it off as I prefer to do my kids first but thought I should do it now as I really wanted to tell the story of me and my grandma speaking in the present to her not years from now..so I took this opportunity to do it now while I still can.
Growing up me and my grandma would always request these two songs to each other on CJWW, so they are kind of our songs and we still refer to them once in awhile when we are togther. I will always love you by Dolly Parton and Funny Face(can't recall singer right now) So the title and reference to those songs have special meaning and had to be on the page somehow.
My journalling is hidden behind the photo and reads:
Grandma, I don't know if you will ever know just how much you have meant to me all these years. We have had a gr8 relationship, yes and i do feel fortunate to have been able to have that privilage as not many still have their grandparents around and if they do, don't have a bond with them as you and I do. But, you have always been more than just a grandma to me, but more like a second mother. I always knew that you would be there for me. You were always protective of me in many ways and although I haven't always said it, I appreciate your love and care of me. I can't imagine you not in my life. I know the day will come someday when I must let you go and although I know it isn't a bad thing, but I fear myself on that day, as I love you more than anything. You will always hold a VERY special place in my heart, one that will never diminish as the years go by. You must be someone very special as I can see that you have the same or close to it at least, bond with my kids that you have with me. My kids like very easily but I know they feel a gr8 amount of love for you. I am grateful that they will have those memories of you and that someday many years from now we can talk about you and they should remember. Not many kids have their gr8 grandparents in their life as well and if they do, it isn't usually a relationship like you have with them. So, thank you for being the lovable person you are. Thank you for always being there when I needed you. Thank you for always trying to help me out when you could. Thank you for my beautiful kids, for you are the reason I got with Matthew, their dad in the first place. Thank you for just being you. Your generousity with everyone is always so amazing. You are someone to live up to. Thank you for that. I hope I can be half the person you are as to me you are my hero. Thank you for just everything. Thank you for loving me! "I will always love you, funny face"
This challenge for this one was called, come lulu with me. Lululemon apparantly has a bunch of these inspiration quotes on their products and we had to use one of the many listed for inspiration somehow on a page. For mine I used the quote: Children are the orgasm of life. Just like you did not know what an orgasm was before you had one, nature does not let you know how gr8 children are until you have them.
This layout was based on one of a few cd covers that were shown to us for inspiration. Mine came from Pete Waterman's Greatest Hits.
For my page, I used my Slice Machine to cut out the flowers in the brown cardstock and the photo, then I backed them with a green cardstock to match my daughters dress. I used meadow green glimmer mist on the Dora letters, my favorite color I think in the GM"s. Very simple page, but I think it is very stirking too. Everything is much brighter in person. I "adore" this page!

This two pager wasn't from the weekend but just another recent one I just did.

Just Cre8 Challenge layouts

K, so here are some of my layouts done this past weekend during the online crop. They actually extended the crop deadline till thursday to give us more chance to get them done and give others that couldn' on the weekend a chance to participate in a few of the challenges. So, as I get more done through the week I will either post them or wait and do one post. Here are some of them so far though. The challenge for this Spiderman layout was to choose from selection of titles and use it as inspiration on a page...It is also a poker challenge so everyone starts off with the same two cards. We must do three different titles and then as we upload each one we are emailed another card from the deck. After three layouts we will have 5 cards..at the end of the crop the person with the best hand wins! You can even try to better your hand by trying doing more layouts so I may just do that but want to get at some of the other challenges first.

This one I chose A day in the life of...
This one I chose Growing Up. Journalling on this one reads:
Growing Up What fond memories I have of spending my childhood years with the Gladmer Park Gang...LOL! - Erin mostly played with my sister Tanya, but I remember her as being a sweet quiet girl. Her brother Kevin being even younger played with my brother David - Domnick wasn't there for too long before they moved. -Angela...what to say about her. Well she was my Best Friend right from the start...and still is. With Ang I have the most memories - our little hole that we played in - leaving post it notes all around Gladmer for each other to find the other - I went shopping with her and her mom for my little ponies. I got my first one then...Cotton Candy - Pig latin - Our Cotton Language we made up so Erin and Tany wouldn't understand us - I still remember when Angela's family moved to Lakeview. I was devasted, but that didn't stop us from being friends. Then we started "our" sleepovers consisting of watching Beverly Hills 90210, junk food and playing Coleco and Nintendo all night.

This one I chose Inspired by
This challenge was to put away the pastels and use bright colors

This challenge was a sketch challenge. We were given a sketch and had to do our take on it.

This challenge was to use no Patterned Paper

The challenge for this one was...we were shown 4 photos of misc things and we had to draw our inspiration from one of them. My inspiration came from this grey sweater that had different textures and shades of grey. Totally different from my style but I really like it.
This one was speed scrappin' We had to time ourselves and do a page under 30 minutes, including picking out supplies. This one took me 28 minutes.
These last four are all from one challenge. We were told to gather up 4 coordinating patterned paper(I just chose one of my favorite lines from Cloud Nine), 4 coordinating cardstock and 2 coordinating cardstocks for matting. Then we were given easy cutting instructions for each patterned paper sheet and then instructions to put together 4 layouts. It was so nicely set up and so it was so easy to do...I would say I had all my layouts cut up and assembed in half an hour to 45 minutes...then just had to do the consuming stuff like stickles, stamping, doodling, liquid glass etc.
I should have picked one other sheet as it was late and I wasn't thinking of how they would look and so the two different reds kind of blend together. Today when I took these photos in natural lighting I realized that my photos don't really match as nicely as I thought they did last night(Don't know what I was on!...LOL) but what can you do...too late! At least they are done and I am four more closer to being caught up...yeah right!..lol
